1...IF YOUR GOVERNMENT PASSES LAWS THAT TAKES AWAY YOUR RIGHTS...
Laws have been passed that allow full domestic surveillance and imprisonment of Americans without any evidence, secret arrests and imprisonment is within the broad powers our lawmakers willingly signed away (Patriotic Act / Intel Reform Act of '04)

2...IF YOUR GOVERNMENT IMPLEMENTS A NATIONAL ID CARD LINKING YOU TO A FEDERAL DATABASE OF INFORMATION...
National ID's linked to all personal information (student, medical, financial records) within a federal database will be issued within a year and a half, a governor's summit with the president discussing whether biometrics and gps will be implemented is scheduled to occur by the end of this year or the beginning of next (HR 418 "Real ID ACT" in February '05) and just recently, language expounding upon the Real ID ACT were snuck into the supplemental spending bill YESTERDAY

3...IF VIDEO CAMERAS ARE MONITORING YOUR PUBLIC PLACES...
Video Cameras designed to monitor public areas are to become a network of eyes watching the public at all times, some today already include facial recognition software such as the new system installed in Los Angelas

4...IF YOUR GOVERNMENT HAS A PROGRAM DEVOTED TO INSTITUTING MARTIAL LAW IN INCREDIBLE DETAIL...
FEMA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, via a sign-off from the President can suspend all constitutional rights and establish martial law with the stroke of a pen. The link below gives a concise description and explains FEMA's creation through executive orders by 4 different Presidents, but feel free to do research on your own.

4...IF YOUR GOVERNMENT LIES TO YOU AND MANIPULATES YOUR MEDIA...
Recent reports of journalists being paid to promote administration policies are the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the government manipulating the media for their own purposes. The OSI or Office of Strategic Information - a pet project of DARPA quietly eased off the DARPA website two years ago under public outcry that the U.S. Gov. would attempt to lie to the public and / or allies to gain a military advantage. That hasn't stopped anybody..

A Spinwatch investigation has revealed that journalists working for the Services Sound and Vision Corporation (SSVC) have been commissioned to provide news reports to the BBC. The BBC has been using these reports as if they were genuine news. In fact, the SSVC is entirely funded by the Ministry of Defence as a propaganda operation, which according to its own website makes a 'considerable contribution' to the 'morale' of the armed forces.

In the US, Washington has been rocked by the scandal of fake journalists. The Bush administration has been paying actors to produce news, paying journalists to write propaganda, and paying Republican party members to pose as journalists.

FBI project CARNIVORE is a program designed to filter all transmissions going through U.S. satellites, all electronic communication is monitored and combed through

6...IF YOUR CHILDREN ARE BEING INDOCTRINATED TO PREPARE THEM FOR THE "BRAVE NEW WORLD"...
Today children carry a picture ID at public schools with a barcode on the back which they must have with them at all times, this eases them into adulthood wherein they will carry their National ID card with them at all times where they can be tracked from place to place. Think about it - at school you check out your books and get your lunch with your ID card. In the principals office, particularly if your school is large, instead of a file in a cabinet, the principal slides your card and up pops your file - same as the guidance counselour's or the nurse's office. In the adult world, you may pay with your id card for breakfast at McDonald's, then pick out a book at the local library, then pay for gas before going home. Every place you use it provides a line of dots to be connected by Big Brother

...YOU MIGHT BE LIVING IN A TOTALITARIAN DICTATORSHIP.

So, for everyone who doesn't believe in the new police state / totalitarian dicatorship the evidence is clear, the Leviathan is upon us, if you don't believe it, it's only becuase you've not yet felt the effects of it.

Bwah-hahahahahahahaha!!! If you truly were living in such a dictatorship you would be in prision for running off at the mouth!

As I said, if you don't believe it, it's only becuase you've not yet felt the effects of it.

Are you telling me that all these things in American society that are shared by totalitarian governments (usually headed by a dictator) are things you agree with? As I said above, the tracks are here, you just can't see the train yet.

Drmiler - you're not going to see that train till it hits you you've got your head buried so deep in the sand. Do some research. Check out our current laws. Everythings is in place, it just needs to be acted upon at such a level as to where even those buried in the sand can see it for them to believe.
on Mar 16, 2005
....to put it more succinctly, drmiler, just because you haven't seen bloggers like me "disappear" doesn't mean that we don't already have a totalitarian framework in place. Simply because only a few have been subjected to the undemocratic actions of the U.S. Government doesn't prove it is not totalitarian on paper. Do some research, review some of the laws passed, and wonder at what the intent is and be aware of what road it puts America on.

Remember the sunset clause built in to Patriot Act? That was to help quell criticism, the answer to civil rights groups was, "Hey, this is just temporary in a time of need, don't worry, it'll pass." Well, now that everyone has calmed down and moved on, we've fully renewed the Patriot Act. The same was with cameras in public places. "No need to worry about big brother, little plebians, it's just for safety at isolated areas like traffic intersections," now cameras are installed near public monuments, in all public places in Baltimore, and in Los Angelas (WITH FACIAL RECOGNITION).

The analogy is this, if you put a frog in a pot of boiling water, it will immediately lash out at you, struggling, writhing, anything to get away from the scalding liquid. If, however, you put a frog in lukewarm water, and gradually turn the heat up, the frog with become lethargic and eventually cook to death by the time the water is boiling.

The frog is the American people, drmiler, and the burner is on. How long until you become so lethargic and complacent until you realize - too late - that you are cooked?

Can you say conspiracy theories? Those cameras were put in place to help law-enforcement control crime. Look at the crime stats in those areas that have those cameras installed. The crime rate has dropped.
on Mar 16, 2005
Regardless of what the intention is behind the cameras being installed, the effect is clear - surveillance of the populace. The trend is growing as people become more and more accustomed to it's presence and it will continue to grow.

It's that simple.

No conspiracy here.

I like that logic. With such logic, you can never be wrong, because anybody who disagrees is automatically wrong in your eyes.

Are you telling me that all these things in American society that are shared by totalitarian governments (usually headed by a dictator) are things you agree with?

I'm sure that America's government shares some traits with totalitarian governments. For example, many NRA advocates cite Nazi Germany's gun control as a reason why gun control is bad, so when you think about it, if you support gun control, you're a Nazi! Same with vegetarianism (Hitler was a vegetarian).

Get a grip and try surveillance of the *criminal* populace.

Deference, I agree with you. We, as a nation, have embarked down the very slippery slope of fascism. It starts rather insidiously, then WHAM!!!! it's done. The surveilance, manipulation of the press, the country being run by corporate interests, investigations of library cards and book check-outs, censorship of the media, etc...... etc........etc....... This country also has its collective head up its ass, which is indicative of how good a job the dubya dummies are doing.

The jingoists really cannot see past the benevolent hype that this administratiion is spewing to see the insidiousness of its malevolent reality. Surveilence of public places is a prime example. The excuse that it's to protect citizens from the criminal element of society may be one potential consequence of this activity, but in reality, we're all being watched by those cameras. I agree that maybe some cameras placed in strategic locations would be helpful to not necessarily protect someone, but identify him/her after a crime is committed. See how cameras are used at bodegas and small all-night stores or banks. But, in large malls where thousands of people are located? Along city streets during daylight hours? No, it's just to monitor our activities. Of that, I'm convinced.

It's funny how the Patriot Act, which set up all these intrusions, has really only been used to harass civilians who had nothing to do with terrorism. Has anyone been charged for terrorism under the provisions of the Patriot Act? No, people have just been rounded up and are now languishing in "holding" places, ie Guantanamo, or being sent to other countries to be tortured. All without any charges against them. But, has anyone actually been convicted of terrorist activities? Nah, just using the provisions to spy and harass citizens.

The worst is the manipulation of the press. As long as they can get away with spoon feeding propaganda to news stations, packaged as real news, wherein the news producers use the spin as real news and get away with it, we're in deep, deep shit. Close minded individuals who want so badly to believe it's all real WILL believe it's all real, relying on peoples' sense of patriotism and jingoist attitudes to carry the message, and the fascism has taken hold.

Of all the 200 or more federal judges approved by congress, only ten or so have been balked at by the democratic minority. Only a few. But, the dubya dummies portray it as if the dems are boloxing up everything and not allowing anyone to get appointed. That is so misrepresentational. It's only the few truly worst of the extremeist and those with questionable credetials that the democrats are fighting. As long as the dubya dummies spin it that way, it serves to demonize the opposition, rather than just explain it as merely different viewpoints. And that's what they do. Demonize their opposition. The Nazis did it in Germany, but took it to the extreme. Is that where we are going?

I don't hate all conservatives. I really don't. I understand how some conservatives really do want to see fiscal responsibility, how they are looking at corporate interests as being the backbone of society. I don't agree, but I understand it. But, what I hate is those who take it upon themselves to carry the dubya dummies' message of demonizing the opposition, portraying us as the demise of this country, and how some buy into this shit. Those are the assholes that are really at the core of what is allowing this fascism to occur. It's just small minded, close minded, and stupid. You know who you are. And I do fear you.

I fear that what you're doing and allowing to happen is so close to what occurred in Nazi Germany (sans genocide here, of course) that it's scary. In fact, the dubya dummies playbook, spelled out in the Patriot Act, is fashioned after the Nazi playbook. Ahhhhhhhh, patriotism........... how insidiously malevolent it can be.............

This is so much BS. The eyes in the sky (cameras) were in place looooooong before the Patriot act I or II.
